Why remake this thing?

I know it is a common thing that people know Hollywood is unoriginal, but upon hearing the recent news that this movie is to be remade I got angry and its John Carpenters The Thing! Why, oh please why are they remaking this classic, I know its not a majorly popular movie but here's the thing Hollywood that's what was so ******* good about it! I just want to know what happened for this movie to unfortunately deserve so be among Quarantine and Psycho?
