Carpenter work at home - which one is cheaper?

In all honesty, if you hire a carpenter to do a job for you they will have the knowledge of what materials are needed and best suitable for that particular job. I work for a hardware store and see alot of do it yourselfers come in and that's fine, nothing wrong with doing a project yourself to save money and a sense of accomplishment. But I also see people keep coming back in for items they either forgot to get alot OR miscalculate what they thought they would need-even with the help of salespeople, until you are on that job...you are guessing. While lumber prices are really not bad, time and labor can get expensive. I would want a very clear indication of how long this job is going to take, the materials are deffinitley there and you seem to have knowledge of about what you will need. You could also ask for a few bids from carpenters before anyone of them starts a job for you.
